Ellis House a Beautiful Gem

Ellis House Art CentreAbout twelve years ago I moved to Bayswater. I walked down Milne St to the river for some much needed exercise and to escape the hustle bustle of Guildford Road. Staring into space I was enjoying natures sounds and sun on my back, I stumbled across a sweet old elevated house nestled amongst the trees.Ellis House” Community Art Centre – I had an immediate attraction and found myself walking up the stairs to the entrance .  The garden was intoxicating, the stairs were steep and I couldn’t help noticing the sweeping tree branches moving in the breeze.   I half expected to spot a fairy in the corner of my eye. I opened the fly wire door to a tinkling bell and a tiny lady approached me down the hallway with her lovely smile. She had a warm greeting and offered me scones and tea. We chatted and browsed the rooms of the current exhibition and two hours later I left Ellis House with many warm, fuzzy, inspirational thoughts – mmmmm what should I do on my next canvas.

Ellis House – Therapy for the Soul

Ellis HouseWhat a beautiful little gem I had discovered. The experience of my visit was almost like therapy for the soul and I new I had to be involved with this magical place somehow.  So I became a member and volunteered to help out. I had a couple of exhibitions – what an amazing experience they were, and grew to know many members of the Ellis House Community. I am a big believer that being in this environment with other artists and art lovers is perfect for your own creative journey. Finding the perfect surrounds only enhances it and here it is – Ellis House Community Art Centre. Alli Sylvestre
